Mr. Rene Mantilla, a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, holds over 23 years of experience in the education profession. After graduating from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 1986, he proudly embarked on a career in education graduating with an Associate of Arts from Florida State University in 1989, a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies from Florida International University in 1992, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. He has risen through the ranks from social studies advance placement teacher to school-site assistant principal, to district director to principal of George T. Baker Aviation Technical College. Presently, at the technical college, René is facilitating various operational improvements including data systems that better monitor student performance on industry certifications and licensures examinations, the enhancement and repurposing of organizational and human capital to expand course offerings, and the modernizing of classrooms and shops to better meet industry demand for a well-trained aviation centered workforce. He is also modifying the composition of the institution’s advisory board to better align the technical college with the FAA Part 14CFR 147 and state curriculum frameworks. René is also a proud U.S. Veteran who actively served in Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and received the Army Commendation Medal.
