Outside of work she volunteers with the Ninety-Nines which is an organization that promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support. She is a member of several other organizations as well, Women in Aviation, International Society of Women Airline Pilots, Seaplane Pilots Association and Greater Miami Aviation Association.
Through her volunteer work she was offered the opportunity to organize “Women in Aviation Day” for the Girl Scouts hosted by American Airlines. The goal of the event is to expose girls to careers in aviation. The Girl Scouts have the rare opportunity to hear from women in all departments of American Airlines , as well as outside organizations, about their job. For example, they hear from Agents, Customer Service, Cargo, Special Services, Maintenance, Ramp, Engineers, Simulator Technicians, Pilots, Flight Attendants, Customs & Border Patrol, National Weather Service, FAA, Airport Fire & Rescue, Miami-Dade Airport Police, Boeing, Airbus, Pan Am, Civil Air Patrol, Literary Aviatrix, Air Traffic Control, George T. Baker, Miami Springs High School, Miami-Dade College, Embry-Riddle drone program, Florida Memorial College, Ninety-Nines, Women in Aviation and the Greater Miami Aviation Association. The Girl Scouts have the opportunity to tour an American Airlines B-777 aircraft. It is such a popular event that she is helping American Airlines take this event to all the bases in their system. This event has brought the Miami aviation community together to inspire the next generation.
